When you first open Active Minutes, you'll be prompted to grant HealthKit access. You can also manage permissions in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Active Minutes.
Make sure you've granted HealthKit permissions and that you have workout or health data recorded. The app needs data from Apple Health to display metrics. Active minutes are only counted during workouts.
Active minutes are calculated from your heart rate during workouts. Moderate intensity (100-119 BPM) counts as 1 minute, while vigorous intensity (120+ BPM) counts as 2 minutes. You can customize these thresholds in Settings.
Long-press on your Apple Watch face, tap Edit, and scroll to find Active Minutes complications. You can choose from different sizes showing daily active minutes, calories, or fat burn.
No. All your health data stays on your device. We never transmit or store your HealthKit data on external servers. Data is only shared between your iPhone and Watch via a secure App Group.
Calories are estimated using the Keytel formula, which considers your heart rate, weight, age, and sex. Fat burn estimates assume 50-65% of calories come from fat at different intensities, divided by 9 calories per gram of fat.
Simply delete the Active Minutes app to remove all locally stored app data. Your HealthKit data remains in Apple Health and is managed by iOS.
